Myofascial Release Therapy

Fascia & The Mystery of Chronic Pain | Dana Sterling

Why do Restrictions form?
Restrictions occur through physical trauma, cumulative injuries, scar tissue, inflammatory reactions, poor posture, and emotional life stressors. Restrictions in one area of the body can affect the body as a whole. This evidenced by how people are unable to function in everyday activities, whether it is mentally, physically, or emotionally. Restrictions create pain and stiffness prohibiting you from doing the things you like to do!

Fascial restrictions can not be seen with X-Rays, MRIs, or other standard imaging. Your MFR Therapist trained to locate and release them, which helps you get out of pain.

What to expect
*  Every session begins with a standing and on-table evaluation of your posture and areas of restriction.
*  You’ll be in treatment clothes – think gym clothes: loose running shorts and a sports bra or tank top or just underwear.
*  It’s important that you don’t put on moisturizer the day of your appointment – it interferes with treatment.

It is my passion to help people get out of chronic and unexplained pain return to a an active life style and doing the things they loved to do the most.

Myofascial Release will work for you.  I have seen it time and time again -necks that turn again, “sciatica” symptoms resolved, headaches lessened and resolved, better breathing when chest restrictions decreased, shoulders that no longer hurt when reaching up and much more…

You may have questions, and this is what the first session is for. I’ll check your posture and determine how I can best help you. I’ll also recommend a plan of care. Clients that have the best results usually begin with one to two sessions per week And yes the first visit absolutely includes treatment.

What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release is a gentle safe hands on approach to treating the body. Treatment consists of sustained pressure in combination with stretches and motions that unravel tension and tissue restrictions. Pressure may vary depending on your body's needs. Myofascial Release eliminates restrictions relieving pressure off on pain sensitive structures. The body's alignment is then restored and there is relief from pain and stiffness. The body returns to a more optimal healthy state.
Pain can cause one to change their posture in attempt to alleviate the symptoms. This in turn causes additional problems and becomes self defeating. We call it compensation which in turn can cause disequilibrium within in your body. Let a Myofascial Release Therapist assist you in alleviating the restrictions to facilitate a more natural alignment of the body as a whole. From there you can gain more mobilty and the pain may potentially diminish. Myofascial release is proven to be longer lasting compared to other alternative therapies, especially if you take the time and effort to treat yourself. A good Myofascial Release Therapist will take the time to educate you how to treat yourself when you are unable to obtain
